For the Love Of Purpose

Find your purpose

The team was amazing, five of the smartest people I'd ever lead, each unique and gifted in their own way. This team was bonded to it's purpose and to each other.

This team opened my eyes to a new possibility.

The possibility that anyone can be hungry. Anyone can care but they had to love what they did.

How does someone love what they do? They see the purpose in it.

It started with teaching each employee not only the how but the why of each task. Also coming together once a week as a group to talk highlights and lowlights.

Learning from each other. Helping each other. Guiding each other. That's what happened.

I started to think, could this happen anywhere with anyone?

Yes and no.

If employees felt heard, cared for, understood, communicated to and actually had a passion for the work then yes, this was possible.

If the same employees felt all of these things but did not have a passion for the work then no, it wasn't possible.

In Patrick Lencioni's book, "The Ideal Team Player", he shares that the ideal team player is hungry, humble and smart. He goes on to say you can teach humble, you can even teach smart but hunger is something ingrained in a person. If someone isn't hungry they can't be taught how to be.

But what if a person can be taught hunger? This is my life's mission and purpose. And it's not actually teaching hunger it's finding out where each person's true passion lives.

So many people walk around unaware of their purpose, where they fit. It's time to change that.

After countless hours with employees, coworkers and friends, listening to the frustrations, and hopelessness coupled with 100 hours of certification in life coaching, I have come to realize hunger is in us all, sometimes we just don't know our purpose.
